Leaves Gathered Poem by Deb Fowler

Leaves Gathered

Rating: 2.2

I say I don't know how to
breathe without you as you
leave, your return unknown,
unwise, unfair

I prepare myself
for the surge of tears,
the cry of
my heart
no sounds, only
the empty weight
anchors
me to the spot
on the floor
where I have puddled
in your wake.
