Laughter Beyond The Wall... Poem by Carlos Barbarito

Laughter Beyond The Wall...

Laughter beyond the wall.
They are two, maybe three. They play
In the water, splash and laugh.
They must be naked, wet
From head to toes.
They throw water at each other, then,
perhaps, they fondle one another, and laugh.
Their laughter and splashes echo
their way into my ears
as if located under layers of memory
or at the precise center of a dream.
Naked, they laugh, and slowly,
unwittingly, or could it be they have a hunch
and that is why they do it,
they light up and glow,
free, if for a moment,
from reason and from time.
