Late At Night Poem by Lilly Rose

Late At Night

Stars are glistering, fluttering,
but I am still up,
waiting for time to stop.
Stories are sinking and twirling,
but I snare them inside,
waiting for a clean slate.
A song is on replay,
concealing unwavering joys
and trials of life,
waiting to meet fate,
chameleon of future.
That light is still
shining down-on me,
acknowledging me in its only way,
waiting to finally drop.
I am alone in Darkness, trying to capture me...

My computer is purring,
from attention,
waiting for more,
like us, never satisfied.
Keyboards are yelling,
about time, waiting for me
to stop clicking and hitting-
like life.
My bed is like a mother's embrace-
warm and safe-
waiting for a rest,
for a timeless sleep.
Its covers are hiding books,
shouting for me to learn,
to acknowledge
greed of knowlege,
like us, pretenders.
I am being trapped into Night, into a horrible plan...

A clock is tick, tocking,
warning me of its season-
winter-
waiting for me to close my eyes.
One lone sock is lying
on the floor,
waiting to be picked up, like us.
A window is ajar,
letting in a cool breeze,
waiting for me
to invite it in, then out,
like us, chameleons of ideas.
One abandoned shirt is
flapping outside,
telling me to let it in,
waiting for me to wake up,
like us, waking up from a dream.
Cornered by struggle, up til the break of dawn...
