I would like to translate this poem
The poet-seer's closing statement is unclear to me. The monsignor chides him for announcing too often he is retiring from writing poems. But the poet-seer's statement in response that IMMORTALITY IS SUSPENDED is ambiguous. Does it refer to the ancient pagan belief that the snake is immortal but not human beings? Or is the poet-seer falling silent because he despairs over the loss of immortality?
