Last Smile Poem by Ridah Ellahi

Last Smile

Rating: 5.0

She sits by the window waiting,
Dropping tears on the window pane.
Waiting for someone to come,
But disappointed to see the empty lane.

In the far distance,
She can hear her own screaming.
Sick of the whole world,
She just looks at the moon gleaming.

Her pain reflected in her eyes,
She sits alone in the dark and cries.
Nobody seems to notice.
Nobody seems to know this.

Hard to tell the difference,
Between a friend and a foe.
Hard to trust people,
She does not know.

She’s sick of everyone around her.
Only pain and suffering surrounds her.
She tries and tries to let go.
But ends up with bloody marks left by a foe.

She screams at the top of her lungs,
Waiting for somebody to come and save her.
Indulged in their own lives,
Nobody seems to hear her.

A big smile on her face,
But shattered from the inside.
She tries not to show it,
But the pain is reflected in her eyes.

Life is a burden,
Only one way to get rid of it.
She has made up her mind.
Ready to put an end to it.

She picks up the sharpest knife,
And hides behind the wall.
Ready to put an end to life.
Ready to end it, once and for all.

She tries to minimize the pain,
And strikes herself at lightning’s pace.
Her death shall not go into vain.
The ghost of her last smile, still sketched on her face.
