Last Request { Ariel's Aura }.... (Rep.) Poem by Frank James Ryan Jr...fjr

Last Request { Ariel's Aura }.... (Rep.)

Standing close, yet not quite o'er you
so as not to disturb your silence;
your face wears the curse in shades of ecru,
I can still hear the rattle from your lungs
as you slept your final hours drip by drip.

Still, even now, I feel your hand in mine,
cotton soft, bread warm, touching me-
telling me, you won't be far away.

Come tomorrow when they open the earth,
lower you to your final stead,
will I no longer feel your aura again,
as that would be a grief I could not bear,
a pain in thrust through my sorrowed heart,
like long rusted nails or sickled glass.

Before you left, you reached for me
and said, 'I love you', I'll always be near.
So, here is my last request to you,
it's all I ask 'til we touch once again,
please never...never be far away.
