Last Day Questions Poem by Chris Jibero

Last Day Questions

Perish not in ignorance
For God's ways aren't the same
With yours
Neither are His thoughts the same
With yours
Poles apart are His ways and thoughts
From yours
Running parallel like two straight lines
That shall not meet except by compromise
For your objects of great value are but trash
Before Him

Your ways need to be considered carefully
And thoughts ordered tactfully
Cos on the last day God won't ask you
About how big your house was
But He'd ask how many homeless
People you sheltered
He won't ask how big your pantry, kitchen
And dining table were
But He'd ask how many hungry people you fed
He won't ask how fat your bank accounts were
But He'd ask how many needy people you assisted
He won't ask how many designer clothes you had
But He'd ask how many naked people you clothed
He won't ask the type of car you owned
But He'd ask you about the number of people
You provided means of transport
He won't ask the position you attained in life
But He'd ask how fairly you got to the top

And He won't ask about your job title
But He'd ask how well you did your job
He won't ask whether you were married or single
But He'd ask how you used His temple
He won't ask the number of children you had
But He'd ask how many you raised in His way
He won't ask how many influential people you knew
But He'd ask how many of them you showed the way of life
And never forget that it is always God's ways
And not yours cos His are true ways
But yours that look right only lead to destruction.
