Languages Of Love Poem by Paul Sebastian

Languages Of Love

Red wine, foreign chocolates and flowers
Eat exquisite food with hot spicy flavours
Costume jewelry and branded dresses
Beauty parlours and coloured tresses
Books, movie treats, teas, love-message cakes…
Give you myself as a gift, a decision I daily make
Language of love is primed in receiving gifts.

Punctual after-office pick ups
After-shower lotion body-rubs
Play your most-loved CDs while you cooked
Set the table, while you did magic with food
Dimmed lights, cozy long-chat dinners
You helped kids to bed, as I did the dishes
Language of love is primed in service.

Late night news and movies we watched
Sat by my side, on my lap you rested
Caressing your locks of hair, I managed
Giving a head-neck-shoulders massage
Sharing wine, feeding me with your supper…
Lovely moments to treasure and remember
Language of love is expressed in touching.

Whenever you talked, I actively listened
Affirming whenever you were uncertain
Always inspiring the positive self in you
Day by day, like a budding rose you grew
Language of love expresses affirmation.

Stories I read as your wide-eyes gazed
Scrabbles we played, for hours we lazed
Held hands as we prayed or as I serenaded
Dawn’s chatty walks, which you adulated
You were absorbed in me, I was absorbed in you
Knitted our lives together, created each day, anew
Language of love seeks quality time in relationship.
