Lady Of Acadia Poem by Bill Galvin

Lady Of Acadia

Set up easel and canvas in my mind,
Where to paint her lovely portrait-scene;
Since promising never to leave her behind,
And never to forget in time between.

Summer's song here has long been sung;
Soon'll be threats of cold Winter clouds;
The plaintive bells of Autumn are rung,
And with longer nights, we'll be enshroud.

Deep russets, browns, yellows and bronze,
No sweeter face that I could ever meet;
With clear blue sky reflecting off her ponds,
No sweeter place for me to plant my feet.

I come to hear what is left to say,
As she offers me the Mother's best;
Her season's beauteous change to gray
Creates in my soul a comfort nest.

This place serves up good memories,
In a peaceful way, like a warm touchstone;
I see the ones who are teaching me,
And all of those ever loved and known.

This tide is moving more away from shore;
And the sun is setting much sooner now;
But the cycle will go on for evermore,
And I am here… to observe the Tao.

You can always find me someplace near,
As long as the dear Lady of Acadia's here.
