Lady, Be Good
“Oh lady, be good! ”
is what people once said,
it was quite understood
that they wouldn’t be led
by the men who would say,
“Lovely lady, be bad! ”
and would not obey
just to make a guy glad.
They no longer say
that a lady should be
any better than they,
but I hardly agree.
I’ve always demanded:
“Don’t do what I would, ”
the old double standard,
because I’m not good.
