Labour Room Poem by Efenakpo Dean Ogaga

Labour Room

Screams! ! ! Shouts! ! !
All rolled over the labour room
Like rumbling thunder
Nurses, midwives moves to and fro
For one reason or the other

Unsettledly seated the man,
Who had her in the family way
Waiting in anguish and hoping for the end
And jumping at every foot steps

She will cry, scream, and ground her teeth
Swearing curses at him
Wishing to never see him

But at the 11th hour the child is out
She will cuddle him so tight
Knowing, all she went through was worth it

But this will only last at least 9 months
When she will be back with a swollen stomach
A testament of the man's night deeds and a proof of his manhood
