L O N G E V I T Y Poem by Jim Boone

L O N G E V I T Y

Cracks and shifts in the temple

Brain power-failures

Art forms: lyrical poetry
Free verse rhythm
Unfixed meter
Poet/reader connections
Poet/Poet affections
Opposites attracting.

Duration of a life tormented
By scoffing at individuality
Striking out at exception
Solitude of unrequited differences

'Only the good die young’ connotations

Promotions that fade with seniority

Long life, little respect, shut out.

Socially insecure; healthy or fragile

Life long-lived and insecure

The price of longevity?

The fate of longevity.
