कितनी रोटी


गांव में अकाल था,
बुरा हाल था।
एक बुढ़ऊ ने समय बिताने को,
यों ही पूछा मन बहलाने को—
ख़ाली पेट पर
कितनी रोटी खा सकते हो
गंगानाथ ?

गंगानाथ बोला—
सात !

बुढ़ऊ बोला—
गलत !
बिलकुल ग़लत कहा,
पहली रोटी
खाने के बाद
पेट खाली कहां रहा।
गंगानाथ,
यही तो मलाल है,
इस समय तो
सिर्फ़ एक रोटी का सवाल है।
