King Of Hearts Poem by Katrina Lusk

King Of Hearts

Lay your cards out on the table,
let's play a game.
Just follow my lead,
and I will show you the way.
Let's begin by getting rid of the jokers,
they just mess things up and cause a lot of pain.
I know you have played other games before,
but pay close attention cause this one is a little bit different.
There's so much in store.
Kind of like a game of war.
Two can play but only one can win,
so let's not worry about keeping score.
Your Jack is your right hand man,
always by your side.
Kind of like God,
and how you go to him to confide.
Your clubs are a suit of luck,
so babe keep them close by.
Beware of all of the spades as they reveal their evil face.
You see that Queen of Spades is a backstabber,
and may even try to take my place.
The Ace of Spades is the most dangerous,
and may try to ruin what you have to gain.
But if you get caught up,
I will help you find a way out.
So that you can continue to do your job and reign.
For I am the Queen of Hearts,
crowned to be the co- ruler of your castle.
I shine bright like diamonds,
when things in life seem to become too much of a hassle.
Like in a game of chess,
the King can count on the Queen,
to help him pull through the mess.
If ever life becomes too much of a test.
So whenever the time comes in this game of love,
let me do my part.
Protecting you,
the other half.
My King of Hearts.
