KILLER NEIGHBOUR

Every time you knocked on our door,
We opened and let you into our home,
Bathed, fed and our clothes your wore,

Today you matched in and left blood trails,
You burnt mother’s hair and plucked her nails,
Ripped her skin and set her flesh ablaze,

After all her skin tone was uneven you said,
That her children worship false gods and drink too much,
You say they are not your blood and deserve to die,
This is your right form of worship you say,

While you only see her hot eyes that refuse to surrender,
That refuse to surrender to your murderous gaze,
We dress her voluptuous curves in songs and dance,
Linen and silk and stones from Saturn in loyalty and love
Because she is our mother and this is home for many,

You forget that the fingers you scar have fed your children,
That the children you stab are innocent and know no fury,
You teach them the colour of blood and the smell of fury,

My scarred mother would build a wall because she can,
She also knows that you are a descendant of death,
Your native home smells of crime, sacrilege and crime,
My home remains torn for refusing to be a country at war.

The evil machinations of religious bigotry and zealotry well depicted in the poem. A well articulated tragic story insightfully penned with conviction. A good piece indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
