Keep Her Safe Poem by Steven Rodgers

Keep Her Safe

Of the bold and brave that legends tell,
The heroes of an age,
Of soldiers fought and fared so well,
Whose stories stole the stage,
Their courage saved us from a fail,
Evil doers kept away,
The part so oft left out of tale,
How fear was held at bay.

Marching toward a certain death,
Beats exploding from the heart,
Men at arms with stolen breath,
Twas stolen from the start,
Though at home the reason for,
The apparent lack of fear,
The sunshine at the hero's door,
Whose eyes were soaked with tear.

To keep her safe from evil's will,
He had no choice to make,
A soldier's role he must fill,
His true heart's life at stake,
On the battlefield he fought,
His love he knew was safe,
The damages away were wrought,
He died knowing she was safe.
