Just because I'm not like you,
Doesn't mean you need to put me down.
Just because I don't do things your way,
Doesn't mean you need to boss me around.
Just because I'm different,
Doesn't mean you need to judge me.

Jameaka - it is an honour to be the first to comment on this little gem. I love the structure every other line begining with the same phrase - this gives great emphasis to your plea. because I am a Knight and a Gentleman - I would never 'Put you down' 'Boss you around' 'Judge you' because you are you and perfect just as you are. I'm not like you - I don't do things your way - I'm different from you. It is ebacuse we are different that we can be friends (through poetry) - that we have something to share - that we would have a lot to talk about (and nothing in common! ! ! !) if we ever met. I was brought up in a multiracial port (Liverpool) and i have always appreciated 'diffetrence'. I have two very beautiful daughters (I'm biased) and I told them that if they liked a Young Man I would welcome them irrespective of class - colour - creed or ethnicity because I believe that LOVE should overide all predudices. A lovely powerful poem - thanks for sharing. Love in poetry - JOHN.
