Just Be Good Poem by Joan Marques

Just Be Good

I have reasons to worry but I don't
In the past I would have - now I won't
The lessons learned in recent years were great
I learned that concern before the time is a useless trait
We worry mostly because we cannot see tomorrow
But in hindsight we realize the futility of our sorrow
All efforts in the world cannot provide any guarantee
For whatever is supposed to be - will be
Our book has been written with conscientious finesse
The outcome is set - whether we stress more or less
While we should not sit around idly and wait passively
We should trust in the goodness of the powers that be
Our best is the best thing we can do
Nice times will come when grim ones are through
Problems get solved in the most unexpected way
Blessings surface on the least predicted day
So, I'm not worried if the future looks a bit bleak
Why should I allow this issue to make me weak?
That future is not here yet
So why should I fret?
Who knows what it's good for?
Who knows where I will be?
Who knows what may be in store?
Who knows what we'll see?
God opens windows when he closes doors
Just be good - and goodness will be yours...
