Just As Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Just As

Rating: 5.0

Memory puts
everything back.

Just
as it
was.

Even the glint of candlelight
caught in your eyes

that impish smile
you smile as you straighten your skirt

your laughter
tinkling amongst the clink of glasses
knocked over & spilt.

The Present
eager to forget you

& become a Future

that lives
without you.

The Present is
upset.

It tries to be
itself
& erases the Past
wherever it finds it.

But memory
puts everything back

just as
it was

as it
is.
