Journey Poem by Bireswar Halder

Journey

The final mission
I boated along in full verve
Those curious rowers join hands
My jaded being breathes free again

Time fleets in a ride of playful mirth
And airs of excitement and thrill
Boundless joy with melodious songs
Soon I lose rein of the spell over me
The boat drifts, sways in wild turns
Winds in wanton swings, the sail gives away
Water sluices in through leakages of death
And the rudder bows to the strong whirlpool.

I survive as storms fiddle with our lives
The rowers leave one by one while in distress
The boat is in standstill for sometime
No more strength to proceed further.

Thinking my mission is a success
I get up before the dawn
Alas! The journey is so meaningless
The anchor stills the boat and the mission
