Joe Poem by susmita biswas

Joe

Joe.
He ascended to the skies above.
Yesterday, while he was floating near my window,
I leapt forward to grip his hand.
He was gone,
A lot of questions unanswered, and a lot more to which I replied not.
He looked resplendent floating above me,
He must have felt like a caged lion back in possession of his jungle.
The twinkle in his eye softly murmured into my ears,
I may be there, but I am alive in you.
Yesterday was his birthday,
To him this is an ode.
When the phone rang last night, I hoped it was him,
Happy Birthday Tommy, screeched his pre-recorded voice message,
He is my soul mate, my twin brother.
