Jesus Christ Is Lord Poem by Jeremy Deacon

Jesus Christ Is Lord

Rating: 5.0

I have sinned against the Lord of all. My punishment is due for my transgressions. Deserving of the cross, unforgivable wretch that I am! Full of anger and hate towards goodness and the things of God, my heart deceives me as a mirage in the desert lands. Oh how dry my bones have become. The tendons are detached from my joints and all mass of the man who still breathes. How? How is it that I still live among Gods creation deserving of judgment in hell fire? My breath grows cold in each gasp that is inhaled and out exhales the dust of my filth. Oh God my God how is it that you still love me? The things of this world of darkness arise in my soul to entrap me a prisoner. Again Lord you always make a way for my escape from the dungeons of temptation. I fall and I fail you oh my God. Your promise stands true of forgiveness unspeakable. You forgive and cast all transgressions into the sea of no more. These feelings arise in my soul oh God to be disobedient and carnal. Your sovereign hand lifts me up and shakes the dust off my rags. Your grace is more where sin abounds and your mercy where suffering is just. Again my God you are faithful when I am not. Your ways are higher where mine are finite and corrupt. Your thoughts are higher where mine are stained with black. Your blood crimson washes me white as snow. A regenerate heart you have bestowed upon me to live for you so that your glory be known. Oh God my God your grace is sufficient and sustains the wretch that I am. Your death defeated death that I may live again full of your Spirit constant. Oh God my God all I have to offer is your Son. Christ crucified! He made me righteous in your sight. How oh God can this be, a sinner saved by Grace, a sinner you died for and a sinner made free. Just are you my God in doing so, for your Glory.
