Jealous Rants Poem by Subhojit Kar

Jealous Rants

Why does she sit so close
and chat with him so? - -
Carefree, bubbly and effervescent
as if she's pouring her heart out
to her one and only hero.

Every word she utters
drives a nail
into the coffin
of my silent love.

The air reeks of gunpowder
even though
her mellifluous voice
trills the music
of water tremolos.

I hear her laugh out loud,
i see her queenly toss of hair
and her husky honey-gold voice
cuts swathes in my chest
as she discusses office politics,
corporate nitty-gritties
with the suave corporautomaton.

The flash of her pearly teeth,
the intimacy in those smoky eyes
behind designer, scholarly glasses
as she discusses spouse, home, childcare
with that glib playboy
in that salty, saucy, chocolaty voice
of hers sends a shrapnel
through my lovesick brain
and i see through the mist
in my eyes- -
how cold reason mates
with calculating desire
and lets loose the hellfire
that singes all lonely hearts
to burn in pining pathos
for ever and ever.
