It's Typical For The States Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

It's Typical For The States

Rating: 5.0

My mother tells me to not assume
That the cop that killed George Floyd will get off
'How do you know? ' she asked
It is typical for the States' I replied
Remembering Rodney King
And the cops got off
As the country exploded in terror
'And there's going to be riot. There always is' I added
With a white cop killing a black man-without reason
Only to say 'He came at me with a weapon'
Or 'He was resisting arrest'
With the end: 'I fear for my life'
My mother is so naive because she's white
And never experienced trouble with police
I educate myself by reading
And watching documentaries on PBS and the nightly news
I know the score; hoping I'm wrong
But I think I'm right
Another riot will burst in the streets of the USA
For all the world to watch

I understand your point! Justice may be blind! But video dies not lie! There is no conceivable reason for a cop to put his knee on anyone's neck for 9 plus minutes. No excuse! I believe he will be found guilty! If not, society pays!
