It's Out There Trying Poem by David Howerton

It's Out There Trying

It is sad being in bed
unable to sleep
feeling muscles and back ache.
Take some solace
the moon sits on horizon
sinking leaving all dark
except
a few stars.
Only window open above bed
cold window easing aches,
but later once it seeps in
any movement hurts.
A dog other side of ridge
barks gets no reply
most inside or asleep
none left wanting to talk.
