It's Long Since I Thought Of You Poem by Nusrat Perveen

It's Long Since I Thought Of You

It's long since I thought of you,
but the chill of this night
severs my heart;
leaving me insane, making me fall apart.

And asks me;
may be I should have known,
may be I should have stopped;
may be it should have never grown.

But was it so easy,
to not fall for it?
The illusion more irresistible than the reality,
the mist more sparkling than the first rays on dew;
the sand castles in the dreamy shores,
the dark sky with starry hues.

Wasn't it too blatant to not be seen?
May be it was or perhaps it was not.
But even in all those illusions,
in all those imageries,
in all those misapprehensions;
something was real indeed.
The words you never heard;
the eyes you could never read.
