Is Life Just A? Poem by Ganesh Veeraraghavan

Is Life Just A?

I wait lonely at the station
Not a porter has yet woken
The mist is muffling the morning air
I wait for the train, eyes with tear

The night's been long and heavy
She slammed the door hard at me
No more peace, no more love
All gone in a blind nightly row

I have to take the next train
Wherever it heads, whichever terrain
Can't bear to live in my town
When she's made up to move on…

The first train rushes speedily
The light at the head winks at me
It doesn't stop to take me in
It just let its smoke puffin

Like my mind the station is smoked
Why it lives, the station miffed
Why lie there through the day
If the train just speeds away

I can wait for the next one
Can I take my heart from my town
I can dive to the deep of the ocean
I can go the distant mountain
Can I drop my tears here
Or will they come along there
Am I a beaten station
Or am I a speeding train

I headed back to my little town
The the tea shop shutter just open
The brewer hands my favourite cup
The aroma says, life will soon be up
The hot brew steams up my throat
The old radio lets a song float

Is life like the beaten station
Or is life a speeding train…….
Is life just a settling down
Or is life always moving on…..
