Invisible Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

Invisible

Rating: 5.0

Invisible, that's what I am
A shadow in this world so grand
No one can see me, no one can tell
That I am here, trapped in my invisible shell
Everyone around me, they don't seem to care
They go about their lives, not even aware
That in their midst, I stand alone
Feeling unseen, like a forgotten stone
Through natural selection, I am divisible
A mere afterthought, not invincible
And now I can't afford to bleed
For fear of revealing my existence indeed
This inflicting conflict, it's hard to bear
To constantly hide, to never be there
To reveal I'm still an imperfect human
Yearning to be seen, to break free from this illusion
I am more than just a way out
Or a pension, for those in doubt
I have dreams and aspirations too
If only someone would look through
With perfect vision, I long to be seen
To be recognized, as more than a machine
That I am a person, with a heart and a soul
Just like everyone else, with a different role
Invisible, that's what I am
But deep within, I am a raging flame
Waiting to be seen, waiting to be heard
For my invisibility to finally be blurred
So here I am, writing this poem
A cry for help, to no longer feel alone
Hoping that someone, somewhere will see
That being invisible, is not where I want to be.
