Interviewee's Face Hidden Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Interviewee's Face Hidden

He'll say it wasn't him and bares all as distraction to take the heat off
Anonymity as authenticity where usually those with firsthand experience just brag
They prepared the studio for his arrival
Put heavy black curtains over the windows and led him in through the emergency exit

It's not cowardice that makes him blur his face
He's always kept his integrity close to his breast
She slept with me, she slept with a couple of my friends
It raised doubts about the idea of community
The good hearted witness pauses
It's not wanting revenge that brought him here today

Sherlock Holmes family glued to the television screen
They know where you first met, what food and drinks you ordered, what song was playing on the overhead PA
They know where you first took her for a weekend alone
Many pairs of eyes watching what occurred

Under threats of death from those he might expose
Those who took it very hard when things didn't work out
He's still testify over the airwaves
Drama makes tired facts gaudy and cheap
Masked by shadows, he names the events we've already forgotten about
