Interment: Humanitas Been Dead Poem by Kakoli Choudhury

Interment: Humanitas Been Dead

Lolls upon the earth, a cavader
Carpeted with the silent shroud,
Amidst some farewell mores
Still, irenic, it lies
As if lulled by the fondle of peace.
'Cry, cry, cry Bogus
Humanitas been dead, 'says Deceit
And a few drops he sheds
Of his hard yielded tears.
Bogus heaves a fake sigh,
His part of mourning, he guises.
Ares with his wonted frown,
Pelts a curt eye to Guilt.
Patience comes waddling
And trips at a headstone,
He curls and squints
To skim through his puny sight-
'Here lies Mercy...' long dead!
Moping, to another he moves
Where veritas' ageing tomb
Rests in the ruin's womb.
Lust accesses with Pride
Tamed Love tethering with chains.
Love and Patience seasaws,
To each other, a wrecked look.
Emerges Satan with the fallen angels,
To enquire the statistics,
Whether deadly sins brood,
Strewing with the each dawn.
'Hell on earth, heaven is no more'
Slogans the zombies in choir.
The dig is dug, the ground unfolds,
The cavader is lowered to the core.
The cynical bawl inflames,
The siren song is blown,
Auguring the inevitable doom.
Another grave adds to the cemetery of Virtues,
The sky weeps in the dead air,
And the zombies roar in choir-
'Hell on Earth, Heaven is no more'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The amount of c
murder, death, hatred etc. are increasing with each passing day. Its like the deadly sins are settling displacing the virtues in us. Through my poem, i want to create awareness about the importance of virtues without which our world will be completely bleak.
