Inspiration Poem by Kaila George

Inspiration

Rating: 0.5

I had a muse that inspired me
To write my heart on my sleeve
And open my thoughts to every
Little cynic that wanted to read
A word here a word there
He challenged me every step of the way
Made me think outside of the box
Feel like I have lost that muse
Since he has been gone
Wondering what should I do?
I have shelved so many poems
Not thinking they are right
He would always be able
To help me with my plight
Sometimes I think hmm this is ok
Then post it and hope it will be noted for the day
But he always said to me
Never mind if they don’t comment
It’s what you want instead
To write and express
Straight from your heart
Straight from your soul
I need to move on
And capture the soul
Of all living things
That lives on this earth
I know he would be proud
If I walked this alone
And continued my need
To express my very soul

I know that you have posted many poems Kaila that I have not gotten around to reading yet, but boy am I glad that I stumbled onto your poem 'Inspiration.' It is a delightful poem and I must believe your muse/friend will return someday. One thing is for sure though, his spirit has left its mark on your heart. If it helps, I realized sometime ago that of course most of my poems are not going to be right for the man I am tomorrow, but they are perfect for the man I am today. Let them all go, see what happens! If a poem has trouble flying the coop, just pick it up gently, give it some love and feed it for a few days longer. There is no shame in letting a child move back in with you temporarily! The plight that worries you, is that just not your own imperfection? You will get better with time, but won't you still be imperfect? It is OK and your decision wise! Post it and hope! Your truth need not be my truth to be valuable. Your truth might be my past and remind me pleasantly how far i have come. Your truth might also be my future and in fact help me to face it more bravely, knowing I am walking where others have trod! Nice comments are very nice of course, but sometimes we learn more from constructive criticism. Pray for that as well (that others truly wish to help you reach your goals, not just tear you down) . And don't just write from your heart and soul, make sure to listen yourself, to what they are saying to all of us. God truly can make disasters into growth producing events. Just one word of caution, capturing the soul of any living thing could be dangerous if it is in fact possible. Better perhaps to be content with breathing the same air, drinking from the same stream, or sharing the same rainbow. As for you walking alone? I know that is impossible! You are surrounded in fact by people who love you, and wherever your path takes you, the road's impact is softened by prayer. Expressing one's soul is not a need Kaila, it is life!
