Inside Herself

She crawled inside herself today,
to see what others see.
She used to think it was outer beauty,
that others loved in me.
I am so much more than my breasts my hair my legs.
MUCH to HIS dismay-
I think, I feel, I love, I hurt.
You never wanted me this way.
Now it's time to part our paths.
Doesn't matter what you say.
I am old enough to know myself
And my heart will say goodbye someday.

This is both a very original and innovative free style poem, Catherine, something one does not see very often. It is uniquely personal, kind of a look in the mirror from the inside out rather than from the outside in. There is both emotion and sadness in this fine poem, but also the reassurance that you soon will be a new person again. It was introspective, but not too much so, and I liked those two ending lines very much, looking to a brighter tomorrow. Carl.
