Inevitable Ending Poem by Abby Sly

Inevitable Ending

Through circumstance and disregard
You ended up with the losing card
Lack of insight and no direction
Led you to live in isolation
Repressed images and anger inside
Stalks your mind and haunts your eyes
Stood and watched your life get derailed
Quick blink and the truth gets revealed
Plant poison inside to feel alright
Nodding off in a park at night
Shivers from your brain down to your feet
Rest your eyes but now you won't repeat
Destiny has claimed you for defeat

Theirs a first and last time to get high
Some stop the habit and others die
No junkie knows when to say goodbye
The pain from every lonely death subsides
And a spirit will be right by your side
I think I saw your face up in the sky
And told myself to live before I die
