Incorruptible Poem by Drew Engman

Incorruptible

Incorruptible
Together, beside each other, we can stand up and tell it -all true
As we get there along the moments that I love,
being here with you
When we both sit down, we've each learned how
Not to secretly stand in the way
Of this road we're on, as our ride goes on,
Off the beaten path to where, we can't say

Our road goes off, on around each bend,
We find a way, then get lost again
I don't need a map to find the way
Home is anywhere you are today.

What course we run through in this life to the end
Is ours to choose between one way or another
If freewill is real, then each choice is omnipotent.
And fate is not God's will nor our destiny.

But right now is the only moment I am alive in,
This ongoing flow of self-conscious sentience
The past can't be re-lived, only remembered
The future isn't real, no previews nor prescience.

Our whole life exists only in the time we experience
As right now, in this we flow through all the years.
Only in sleep do we give up our awareness to weariness
Only awakening do we remember our dreams beyond fear

My courage is only enough for a hope, but I trust
When this ends, we will find death acceptable
Where space and time leave this place ashes and dust
As we expand outside of creation into the incorruptible.
