Inconsiderate People Poem by Ray Hansell

Inconsiderate People

People called her an ugly duckling
Because of her looks
People would always say
She looks like a monster from a book

I would always talk with her
She was always kind
Her looks didn't matter
She was a friend of mine

Often her and I would walk
Talk of what was on our minds
I'd listen to her opinion
She'd always listen to mine

I told her that I didn't like
The things that people say
I told her it got me annoyed
When they spoke of her that way

I explained to her it wasn't right
In fact it was down right rude
For them to say the things they'd say
With their disrespectful attitude

She said to me, don't worry
I've heard it all my life
That's probably why to this day
I never became someone's wife

She turned to me and she said
If it weren't for people like you
Life would be so miserable
I don't know what I'd do

But you and other people
Have made my life's journey fun
I'll always be grateful
Until my life's journey is done

I said to her, I do believe
That every person is of value
Those who cannot see that
To me, are the people who are shallow

Every person is born for a purpose
Regardless of what that purpose may be
Every person born is beautiful
Just take a look around you'll see

So, don't judge people by their cover
You must always look deeper
Then you will probably find a reason
As a friend, they'll be a keeper
