This be Soul
I heard it speak
I hear it laugh
Though I dejected be.
And
I wish the Soul
Would include me
In; withdraw me
Fromthis earth
And suddenly

The speaker's voice is calm but it is not the calm of acceptance of his fate but just the opposite. It is weariness that that has slowed and diminished his voice. He offers no resistance. His human voice will soon have no energy to surrender, much less fight back. This is similar to Keats writing " I am half in love with easeful death."
