Inadequate. Poem by Chelsea Blick

Inadequate.

Place me beside her, a swan
And see what I mean
When I say…
Inadequate.
She is the definition
Of beautiful
With a smile that is
Worth more then gold.

I am her handy side kick
Sitting in the backseat.
Never will I be heard,
So never will I speak.
The peasant in her palace,
The weed in her garden.

I am like a meek star,
Placed beside the sun
I am the Unnoticeable.

And she is the only one
That I have ever known
Who compares herself
The way I compare
Myself to her.
We look in the mirror,
And think to ourselves
She is the swan.
And I am…
Inadequate.
