In The Whirl Of Thoughts Poem by Valsa George

In The Whirl Of Thoughts

Rating: 4.8

as thoughts flew round
like thistle downs in the air,
there shot from him a suppressed sigh.

he strained to remember-
"when was it I last got a call from my children"?

he rocked in agony
his heart beats quickening....

how little he sought
and how little he gained!

he lived for his children.
well settled, they now stay far away.

in the mirror
peering into his disintegrating face,
he airs out....

- his loneliness
- his ailments
- his thirst for his children

his voice trailing into the heedless sky
until they shrink down to a single breath
in and out, in and out......

like a lizard waiting for its prey
he sees Death waiting near.

he envisions a coffin lowered down
not borne by anyone familiar
but by some strange hands

gladly he steps down
closing his eyes, he lies inside
waiting for the warm kiss of his children
a parting gesture due for any parent!

A pragmatic work dear madam! You have endearingly unfolded the painful truth of life especially when someone is about to take rest after end of life's journey... the appended picture makes this brilliant piece of work poignant...10/10

Lonelines and despair do share some common bonds with death. You find that connection through some magnificent imagery. A fantastic verse, Valsa.

A poem that reveals the agony an old man suffers in his old age when he is literally deserted by his children. He succumbs to a world his lonliness and limitations. He waits for his children and grandchildren to offer him the last rites, being it his ambition..10

Beautifully crafted and well executed write. The imagery is so compelling making the reader a witness of the dying parent 's thirst to see his children. Very gripping. Onto my Poem List.
