In Search Of My Mermaid Poem by Joseph Jayakumar

In Search Of My Mermaid

It was always my dream,
To drift alongside a stream,
Into the ocean, no one to follow.
Alone, just me and my canoe,
Paddling the serene waters,
Enjoying the cosy showers,
Awing the sunset,
Feeling never a regret.

Feasting upon the fishes
That always escape my clutches
And talking to the sea,
I sleep with a million stars to watch me.
In the end I find my awaiting mermaid,
To live with her and together fade,
On an island where only we remain.
A dream how insane.
