In Pursuit Of

Rating: 5.0

What if the second hand did stop,
And let the urgent striving drop?
What if then further was a lasting minute,
That had the sense of being infinite?
What if the hour allowed us grace,
To be human beings without the race?
For all the striving takes us away,
From all we have - our present day.

This is a delight poem that causes me to pause and think what if. The rhymes are in couplets, as opposed to free verse, but that doesn't matter. It's worth reading over and over!

An insightful philosophical piece of poetry, elegantly brought forth in good rhyme scheme with conviction. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing Robert.
