No longer do I see her brown eyes
Looking at me, waiting for me to say
Her favourite word.
No longer does she sleep at the
Bottom of my bed until dawn
Waking with the sunrise.
No longer can I feed her and watch
Her woof her food down in time
To beg for some of mine.
No longer can she walk on soft
Grass and sniff lamp posts, trees
Or bushes.
No longer can she feel sunlight on
Her back, or soft rain falling from
The sky.
No longer can we go for long walks
Around the park, or on the beach
Or swim in the sea.
I am left with a bridge of memories
That I cross with a smile. Of brighter
Years now past.
She no longer feels the pain of
Arthritis in her front legs, nor
Of old age.
She no longer has to visit the vet
Every couple of weeks for
Her health checks.
She is now gone, but she is still
With me in my heart, where the
Love she gave me will never die.
Very emotional poem written with spectacular love for your pet.
A very touching poem that resonates with me. Memories with our dog will always be remembered. They are a part of our family. Very heartfelt and magnificently expressed.
Well written with much emotion. I can relate as we had a black lab for 15 years and we still feel his loss.
David, you made me cry so much with poem because I remember my Clinton, the dog i had before Cooper
A dog is man's best friend. Loyal until death. Beautiful, emotionally charged poem.
