In Love With Mysterious Wisterias

IN LOVE WITH MYSTERIOUS WISTERIAS

I'm in love with mysterious wisterias,
and with you, though you haven't their fragrance.
If you tell me you think I'm not serious
I will wander around like the vagrants
who on sidewalks all gather in throngs,
pushing shopping carts loaded with trash,
till you tell me that your heart belongs
to me, and allow me to flash
before you your eyes not precious bling,
but my eyes, so you see how they
can outsparkle a diamond ring,
when you shine on me both night and day.
Yes, wisterias are surely mysterious
and their fragrance makes me quite amazed,
but you ought to believe just how delirious
I am from the fresh words I've phrased.

Inspired by Cole Porter's song "So In Love, " which is one of the songs sung by Renée Fleming with "melodramatic effusions and gaudy embellishments offset scintillating climaxes and rhythmic surety, " performing with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse for a "Live From Lincoln Center" PBS telecast (Steve Smith, ("A Diva Dips Into Indie Rock and Musical Theater, NYT,4/9/12.

Strange dear, but true dear,
When I'm close to you, dear,
The stars fill the sky,
So in love with you am I.

Even without you,
My arms fold about you,
You know darling why,
So in love with you am I.

In love with the night mysterious,
The night when you first were there,
In love with my joy delirious,
When I knew that you could care,

So taunt me, and hurt me,
Deceive me, desert me, I'm yours, till I die.....
So in love.... So in love....
So in love with you, my love... am I....
