Immeasurable Poem by Shelby Hrvat

Immeasurable

Rating: 3.5

I vowed never to tell you-
But now, you simply must know
For after I tell you this brief story,
I still want you to board the plane and go.
Don't let my tale discourage you-
Your future, I value best,
And don't stay awake pondering it all;
For I know you need your rest.
'My darling, my dearest, I love you,
No, I'm not finished, don't make a sound-
I never wanted to tell you this;
Because I knew, for better things, you were bound.'
I felt terrible that I said it,
And thought you'd just walk away-
But to my surprise, you dropped your bags,
Kissed me, and said you'd stay.
Soon we were happily married-
I'm so happy I could nearly cry-
And even though we're still young,
Our love is as immeasurable as the sky.

Blending older formats of language into this added to the fairy-tale like quality of this poem. Nice one-M
