im sorry

I’m sorry I’m your only child
And that I’ll have to do
I’m sorry I won’t make it
Like I know you want me to

I’m sorry if I blew your plan
That I’m not one of your biggest fans
I’m sorry that I hated you
And I’m sorry that you knew

I’m sorry I don’t listen
Like I know I should
I’m sorry if I fucked you up
Although I knew I would

I’m sorry I tried to make you stay
And didn’t let you have your way
I’m sorry that I needed you
Sorry if I broke that rule

I’m sorry I can’t make you smile
And make you proud every once a while
I’m sorry that you told me lies
And ask where’s the sparkle in my eyes

I’m sorry I make sure I pray
At the end of every single day
That someday you might want to come home
That someday you might stay

I’m sorry that I watched my neighbour
Plait and braid her children’s hair
I’m sorry that I cried for you
And I’m sorry you don’t care

I’m sorry I’m not perfect
I’m sorry that I’m real
I'm sorry I don’t look up to you
And I’m sorry I never will

I’m sorry about the things I’ve done
And what I might have said
I’m sorry about the verbal hits
I’m sorry but you deserved it

I’m sorry that I hurt you
And disrespected you
I’m sorry you won’t hear me out
And treat me like a fool

I’m sorry I can’t stand to see you
That I’ll forget your face quite soon
I’m sorry if that upsets you
Now you know how I feel too

I’m sorry you went and slammed the door
It’s an original style, uniquely yours
I’m sorry you thought that that was fine
And I’m sorry your mind’s more fucked up than mine

I’m sorry I don’t care like I used to
But I didn’t screw this up, we both know it was you
I’m sorry you blame me for all your wrong
And I’m sorry I learned to cope on my own

I’m sorry if all this is new to you
I’m sorry it doesn’t scare me losing you
I’m sorry I’m grown beyond my years
And I’m sorry you’ll never bring me to tears

I’m sorry I ended up like a rock
I stand my ground without losing the plot
I’m sorry for our differences and what we’ve lost
But most of all I’m sorry that you’re not.
