I'm A Poor Lonely Widow Poem by Mary Daly

I'm A Poor Lonely Widow

Rating: 4.0

I'm a poor lonely widow and I have no name,
I use food banks now, to add to my shame,
But then isn't that all part of the game?

I'm a poor lonely widow who once was a wife,
But now I just suffer from trouble and strife,
Will this all be with me for the rest of my life?

I'm a poor lonely widow and I haven't a bean,
My wage slip is thin, not fit to be seen,
It's no wonder I think my employers are mean.

I'm a poor lonely widow and I haven't a dime,
I need extra money, it is such a crime.
That's why, my friend, I do lots and lots and lots and lots (and lots) of overtime.

I'm a poor lonely widow and I miss him a lot,
Since everything happened, it feels like I've got,
Only older, not wiser, since we untied the knot.

I'm a poor lonely widow, I just want some fun,
As we both used to have with our days in the sun,
Before it went wrong, and now I'm just one.

I'm a poor lonely widow as I've said once before,
I really would like people to knock on my door,
So we could go clubbing, and my spirits would soar.

I'm a poor lonely widow, but someday I'll be,
Someone with hope, with a future to see,
Then on that day I'll say with such glee,

I'm a rich, happy widow with you in my life,
You've helped me to get rid of all of my strife,
And yes, my sweet love, I will be your wife.
