If That's The Only Way I Can Be With You

Rating: 5.0

the first tears that flood my eyes
burns and blurs my vision
not that i want to see what i just saw
my head starts to throb
like a rapid pulse in my skull
my face feels flushed
as if pins are pricking my cheeks
my kneck becomes swollen
because my throat has a knot of spit building up in it
i try to swallow
but i choke like i'm drowning
i am drowning
in my own tears
in the knot of spit stuck in my throat
my chest is tight
my hearts beat is racing with the seconds
and fainting with the minutes
racing then fainting
racing then fainting
my stomach, it just covers my guts that want to pour out
my legs
god, my legs
there stuck
i can' t move them
i need them to move me
my toes are now tingling
numbness grows in my feet to my ankles
it's spreading through to my legs
my legs
oh god my legs
i need my legs to move me
but there going dead
i'm losing my balance
i need to grab something to hold me up
but my arms
now my arms are stuck
i'm paralyzed
or
am i dying?
i want to be dead
i want to
if that's the only way i can be with you

Hi Lee - This is a very dark poem full of anguish and remorse and a threat of suicide at the end - awesome! It is an interesting account because it follows a recognisable pattern and a process through which we all pass at sometime. We all lode hope especially if the focus of our love is dead - this is hinted at at the end. 'I want to be daed.................If that's the on ly way i can be with you'. The path to despair and comntempletion of suicide is familiar. In your account it starts with the EYES and then we begin to CHOKE and then Faint. The intensity of your anguish affects your legs - we begin to be paralysed and you desire to e dead. There is a painful way back through getting 'Mental Closure' and coming to terms with the past. Begin to count your blessings and think of all the people who love and need you! It is an interestin FREE VERSE POEM and I give it a TEN. Love in poetry - John.
