If Shakespeare Was God, Rod Mckuen Is Jesus Poem by Juan Olivarez

If Shakespeare Was God, Rod Mckuen Is Jesus

If Shakespeare was God,
Rod McKuen is Jesus
Rod McKuen, venerable,
Amiable, holy Rod McKuen.
Poet of the spoken word.

California Rod,
Pacific Rod,
Rod of Golden tans,
And of the Santa Ana winds.
Beach bum
Poet,
Lyricist,
Writer,
Singer,
So much.

Rod saves,
Surely Rod,
Is a result,
Of an immaculate conception.

Wise old Rod,
So many Seasons In The Sun,
So many Sermons,
On so many Mounts.

There are so,
Many children,
Of Rod,
Countless,
Because
Rod's word saves,
Have you been saved?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

AMEN! And Hallelujah! Rod McKuen has been my favorite poet since my teenage years. All about my home, tucked into the nooks and crannies, you'll find his poetry books. I keep them, always within reach, for his words have carried and comforted me through many times...Times few others had privy to....I imagined we would have been wonderful friends..and our dogs would have gotten along! I am a devote follower of the church of Mckuen....and now, an even more loyal fan of yours! Who knew I could find such kindred spirits from this forum? PEACE and Stanyan Street....no sorrows today.
