If Only I Had A Gold Medal To Give

I would give a gold medal to the anonymous man
Who labours each day giving more than he can
Worthy of praise as a hero though naturally human
A true hero who knows not, that I am his fan

His sustenance unsustainable, he bears no banner
I validate his virtue, I admire his manner
For me this man merits the rewards of a winner
For his laborious life produces my dinner

Homage to the men and women throughout the world, throughout history of mankind, who have suffered toil and hardship, with no recognition, valid compensation or justly reward, for the immense effort involved to produce the food we all eat
