If I Were In Your Shoes Poem by Besma Jemaa

If I Were In Your Shoes

How many times have I wanted to stop living when my friends were dying.
How many times have I wanted to stop feeling compassionate and go through what they 're undergoing
How many times have I tried not to sleep just to experience the feeling of a wink longing
All my trials were in vain since at last
Nobody can be in the shoes of others
If ever we could, we wouldn't stay silent till now
If ever we could, we would have reacted somehow
If ever we could, no stem of fear would ever grow
If ever we could, we would be all friends not a single foe.
