If I Were Poem by william mae

If I Were

Rating: 5.0

If I were the wind, would you let me
bathe you in my breath?
Would you then accept me
With no seeds of regret?

If I were the rain, could I cleanse you
with the droplets of my soul?
Renew you with my water,
Would you then not let me go?

If I were the sun, would you
bask only in my light?
Would you let me stay near to you
Could I then hold you at night?

If I were your shadow, could I
mock your every move?
In darkness could I cover you,
Absorb your morning dew?

If I were your soul, would you,
Embrace me in your arms?
Would you give me then your heart,
Would you grace me with your charms?
